Advancement & Leveling Up

rulesadventure

Gaining a Level provides the following benefits:

  • Your HD increases by 1.
  • You gain HP equal to your new Power (Level + HD).
  • You gain a new Class Feature from your current Class’s feature table.
  • You may take a new Rank in your current Class or another Class you qualify for.

Level and Faction

Your Level is determined by your Faction’s Capital population. When your Faction grows (you gain new Families), your Level increases accordingly. You can hold a maximum Level equal to the Level of your largest controlled Faction.

Gaining New Class Features

Each time you Level Up, you roll on your Class’s feature table per that Class’s rules. Features gained from different Classes stack. If you roll a Feature you already have, you may choose from adjacent features on the table.

New Ranks in Existing Classes

You may invest a Level into gaining a new Rank in a Class you already possess Ranks in. Each Rank increases your competence within that Class and grants a new Class Feature from the Class’s feature table.

Multiclassing

All Classes are fully modular. You may take a Rank in any Class you qualify for at any Level. Your Level is the sum of your Ranks across all Classes, but the number of Followers you command determines your actual Level for purposes of Power and HD.

Advancement Beyond Level 12

Level 12 is the assumed maximum for mortals. Beyond this, characters become something else: demigods, spirits, ascended beings, or rulers of Glass itself. This is the domain of the campaign’s endgame and is not covered by standard advancement rules.
